2024 Democratic presidential ticket

Nixon/Agnew redux

The putrid, slimy Biden/Harris produce is well past its use-by date. What will replace it for 2024? The 1970s Nixon/Agnew model provides a clue.

Agnew fell first. It was a gimme-putt, based on petty corruption plus a super-dollop of media animus. His appointed (i.e. chosen) replacement--Gerald Ford--was clearly an establishment pick.

Nixon fell next, like an overweight, ill-balanced domino. He faced impeachment for his politically-clumsy Watergate et al. peccadilloes. (In any case, he had served the establishment’s purposes and then gone super-stale and likely uncontrollable: his substance abuse problems duly noted.) Another gimme putt. His establishment successor, already in place, picked his successor straight from the single-choice establishment menu. It was the, well, last hurrah of the “Rockefeller Republicans” (albeit only with an actual Rockefeller).

Apply this formula—with appropriate adjustments—to the 2022-24 DNC. Kamala Harris goes first. By/for whatever means. She is a domino with negative substance. (The Jumanji Them Jackson SCOTUS-candidate’s faceplant from not knowing her own sex robbed Harris of any and all WOKE insulation against cancellation.) Harris’s "appointed" replacement: already chosen (I would not presume to know who).

Close behind, the Biden exit. How, who knows? Wrong question. Can anyone tell me why not, for any reason?

The Kamala replacement--already chosen to top the "incumbent" 2024 ticket--then "chooses" the second banana.

Bottom line: two unelected "incumbents" running in 2024 for reelection retention against...whom? Those are the $64k questions. The result may be quite different from that of 1976.

The time between this publication and the 2024 election date is a political eternity. The variables leading up to that election are innumerable.

That said, I stand by the scenario that I have projected for the Democratic presidential ticket for 2024's general election. I have predicted it for over a year. The status quo is status no.
